What is the lead time?

Our lead time is always a guesstimate (our best, educated guess) and during non-Covid times is usually spot on!

Right now, our upholstery orders are approx 6-8 weeks from receipt of material. Our grasscloth is right around 6-8 weeks from receipt of material.

**keep in mind lead times are “from receipt of material”. We will email when the material arrives for the project with completion dates for your project.

Do you stock materials?

NO. Everything in our shop is COM (customer’s own material). The client supplies the material (grasscloth, fabric and hardware) for the project.

Do you offer grasscloth samples?

YES! We have a large selection of approved grasscloths that we prepare with our sealer to send to clients to help them decide on a color. If you find one you like- either you can order and ship to us for the project or we can source for you and add to the total.

Are the items shown on the site available for purchase now?

NO. All of the photos on the website are projects from past clients. Everything is custom built to order. In many cases, the pieces shown can be recreated, though! :)

**If you like a particular piece you see, email us and we’d be happy to share the fabric source, etc.

Can you customize a piece if it is not the right size or shape?

YES! Pretty much everything can be made to custom specs. Just let us know your needs and we can price accordingly.

Do you ship white glove?

NO. We do not ship white glove. Our pieces arrive boxed. Smaller items can ship ground. For larger piecces that have to ship LTL freight, we prefer to ship to a receiver. Residential delivery is an option, but costs more and clients are responsible for receiving pieces and inspecting.

Do you insure your items?

YES! We insure all the items we ship. If there is an issue with a delivery NOTIFY US RIGHT AWAY. **See the shipping policies for more information.

Can a trundle be added to any style bed?

YES. We can add a rolling trundle to any bed style up to queen size.

What if I don’t see the style I’m looking for in your photos?

No problem! Just send us a link, photo or drawing of what you’re looking to have made and we can let you know if we are up for it. (usually, we are).

Do you make finished wood furniture?

Other than small things like ottoman and bed legs, usually NO... But we have been known to bend the rules and mix it up from time to time, so please don’t hesitate to ask.

Where are you located?

Our workshop is in Carlsbad, California.

Do you have a retail space/showroom?

NO. We do not have a showroom, but there are always a lot of projects underway in our shop! You are welcome to make an appointment to see some things in person... never know what might be hanging around on any given day!

Do you work with designers?

YES! A majority of the business we do is working with designers. To get started with us, all we need is a copy of your resale info to keep on file. You can email that to us: info@livenupdesign.com

Do you send drawings for approval before you build my item?

YES! We will not proceed without clients approval.

What is your process for grasscloth - is it sealed and is it durable?

We apply 3 coats of clear sealer/top coat to our grasscloth items. This offers a good amount of protection, BUT it is not foolproof. Your grasscloth furniture should be treated as you would a piece of stained wood furniture. We suggest sourcing a glass top for high traffic areas.

Imperfections and slight variations of color are inherent in natural materials, but that is part of what makes the finished product so beautiful. Don’t expect the materials in any grasscloth to be uniform in color.

We will send a tested sample to you prior to beginning a project, so you know what your finished piece will look like. However, it could look slightly different on a table - vs. just a small tested piece. On larger pieces, the fibers and threads can vary greatly and might not be represented in your sample piece.

We inspect the paper prior to starting a project, but we are only looking for flaws that are not “normal”... slight imperfections can and will appear on the finished piece.

WARNING: Do not place your grasscloth furniture in direct sunlight or near a heat register.
Please make sure your grasscloth furniture is stored in a cool, dry room (lower than 86 degrees Fahrenheit.)
